In DEUCE OF HEARTS Sawyer is searching for
answers while Garrison is simply looking for tranquility. Neither of them meant
to meet one another, nor did they expect the adventure that waited for them.
Garrison: We met when Sawyer ran
over my bike.
Sawyer: (elbowing Garrison) Ha! Only because you
were trying to save some woman’s cookie!
Garrison: Seriously, woman,
you’re not going to let that go, are you?
Sawyer: (smug grin) Nope, but that wasn’t the worse part.
Since I “ruined his bike” (uses air quotes), he ordered me to drive him around
like his chauffeur.
Garrison: Well, how was I
supposed to get around town? I was only in Memphis for three weeks and it took
me half that time to fix my bike that you “ruined.” (uses his own air quotes
and rolls his eyes)
Sawyer: Geesh, you make it
sound so dramatic.
Garrison: The second I saw her
hips move when she was dancing around her living room, I decided that it wasn’t
such a bad deal. Watch sexy girl dance, then have her drive me around… win-win
for me.
Sawyer: (rolling her eyes and
punching him in the arm) At least you admit you were spying on me, and when did
you ever let me drive the Beast?
Garrison: Not my fault you had
your music so loud that you couldn’t hear me knocking on your door. Besides,
you like it when I drive; you hate that old Suburban.
Sawyer: True, and besides, I
don’t mind watching you dance either.
Garrison: (shakes his head) More
like step on your feet?
Sawyer: (kisses his cheek) I
don’t care; I just love that you’re willing to try… especially in your Navy
dress uniform.
Garrison: Yeah, well, if it’s
important to you then I’ll do it.
Sawyer: (smiles and nods)
You’ve proved that.
Garrison: (runs his finger down
her cheek) That’s what family’s for, right?
Sawyer: Right, and I
can’t thank you enough for letting me be a part of yours.
